Biweekly Bulletin 9/25 - 10/06
September 25th(Thursday): This Friday, 09/26, is California Native American Day. MJC will celebrate California Native American Day with cultural dancers an speakers on September 25th from 10am - 2pm in the East Campus Quad. Native American Day celebrates the distinct culture of the Native American people indigenous to California and calls attention to the triumphs and struggles of their rich history. This is a free event for all MJC students and the general public. Don't forget, there is no class tomorrow in observance of the holiday.
October 3rd (Friday): Snacks with Dr. Natasha Batalha (NASA Exoplanet Expert) from 2:00pm-3:00pm in the MESA Center. This was originally set to be a dinner on Thursday, but Dr. Batalha's travel plans changed so she will just be here Friday. Dr. Batalha is also giving a MAPS talk on 10/3 that you may be interested in attending (information below).
October 3rd(Friday): Early Alert/ Academic Progress Due - This survey will be posted on 9/29 and due 10/3. It is madatory to complete to ensure that you receive priority registration.
October 3rd(Friday): MAPS Talk - Join Dr. Natasha Batalha in learning about how we can explore the climate and chemical compositions of distant planet atmospheres. This talk will be at 5:30 pm in Sierra 132. Currently, Dr. Batalha leads the largest exoplanet guest observing campaign with the James Webb Space Telescope, targeting a mysterious class of planets sized between Earth and Neptune to unlock new insights into their atmospheres.
October 3rd(Friday): Cal State East Bay MESA Showcase Field Trip (7:45 am - 5:00 pm)! If you are still interested, please join the waitlist using this link: https://www.eventbookings.com/b/event/cal-state-east-bay-showcase. If have more people, we may be able to get another vehicle!
October 4th(Saturday): San Jose State Conference for Engineering Diversity Field Trip (6:30 am - 6:00 pm)! For students that are signed up, you should have received you registration and your email. For those of you on the waitlist, I will let you know if a space becomes available.
